ABC screens BBC’s Agatha Christie drama, Partners in Crime, early next month.
The 6 part drama featuring David Walliams and Jessica Raine is set in the 1950s and follows a married couple as they stumble into a world of undercover agents, mysterious evil masterminds and diabolical political conspiracy.
It’s 1952, and married couple, Tommy (David Walliams) and Tuppence (Jessica Raine), have a chance encounter on a Paris train with a young woman, Jane Finn (Camilla Marie Beeput), who after appearing agitated, suddenly disappears and never returns to her seat.
Weeks later Tommy is focussed on their fledgling honey business, but Tuppence is still concerned about this missing girl and her investigations bring them into contact with Tommy’s uncle, the new head of MI5,
It appears Jane Finn was carrying a secret recording that will reveal the identity of a legendary Soviet assassin, known only as Mr Brown, who they believe will strike soon in Britain. Carter believes Brown’s cronies must have kidnapped Jane, and they can only hope she managed to hide the recording before they got to her.
Despite Carter’s repeated attempts to keep them out of it, over the course of three episodes Tommy and Tuppence find themselves facing mortal danger to infiltrate Brown’s gang, rescue Jane, and unmask Mr Brown in time to prevent him making a hit that could jeopardise Britain’s precarious relationship with America…
8:30pm Friday October 9 on ABC,

I loved the original series….I have watched previews of this…I dont feel inclined to watch this…sorry…

Just out of curiosity, is there a reason this is airing on ABC and not BBC First?
Presumably it’s up to BBC. Poldark also went to ABC.
I watched part of the first episode of this in England and gave up. It lacked charisma and I (we) thought the actress playing Tuppence was miscast. There seemed to be little excitement and derring-do of previous Tommy and Tuppence shows. This adaptation just didn’t work for me.
