2014 Recruit winner Johann Wagner has been delisted by Port Adelaide, exactly a year after winning the reality series.

Wagner, winner of the Foxtel series, featured in the NAB Challenge but never managed to play a senior game for the Power.

He was one of several players culled by the team.

“I’d like to thank the boys for their hard work and we wish them all the best in the future,” coach Ken Hinkley said.

“It’s difficult when people leave the club at this time of year but these are the decisions that have to be made.

“All of these players will remain part of the Port Adelaide family.”

The show did not air this year but will return in 2016, while McGuire Media is also producing an NRL version for Nine.

  1. Don’t get to see the SANFL over here in Victoria, but based on his stat line he was a long way off it – lumbering ruckmen like Jarrad Redden should not be able to regularly find the ball more than small supposedly quick forwards.

Padraig Lucey (the Irish guy who finished 5th or 6th) did reasonably well in his first season with Geelong (kicked 5 goals in one VFL game) considering he was forced to play 1st ruck for a fair chunk of the season. Assuming he isn’t homesick, he’ll still be on Geelong’s list next season.
