  1. Considering that rugby league doesn’t enjoy the general access to schools systems around Australia,(especially Private) the TV ratings figures gained by RL are very impressive. One wonders if and when rugby league gets reasonable access to the scholastic system at large the TV ratings may reflect its real potency in the market place which I believe is immense and could not rivaled by other football codes. The struggle for rugby league is its access into the school systems of Australia. Other football codes enjoy much more access. It flows on from this!

  2. This will be the fourth year in a row that the AFL grand final wins the ratings. I say good 2.5 billion dollars spent Seven west and FOX!

  3. Terrible figures for The Biggest Loser. I understand that the NRL Grand Final would of obviously affected it’s performance, but it really should of rated higher. 324K is a really poor result IMO.

      • Five of those Seven’s AFL: Grand Final: Hawthorn V West Coast, Seven’s AFL: Grand Final: Presentations, Seven’s AFL: Grand Final: On The Ground, Seven’s AFL: Grand Final: Post Match, Seven’s AFL: Grand Final: Pre Match Entertainment relate directly to pre and post match items. So the NRL put this into 3 ratings slots whilst 7 put this into 5. So yes the ratings system does look foolish. Ratings doesn’t get allocated based on length of time but on subject.

An Australian Soapie that goes for 30 mins gets 1 ratings spot. An Australian drama that’s goes for 1 hour gets one ratings spot. An Australian telemovie that goes for 2.5 hours gets 1 ratings spot. Why should sport be any different?

  4. David, do you know how the NRL State Championship & U20’S GF rated in other cities on Gem?

  5. Ten needs to re – think their strategy. They need start reality shows from 7pm every night including Sunday. When they did this several years ago their shows got better ratings. Ten issues are betwen 6-7 and that is where the others capture the nightly audience.

  6. I note that the regional audience of North Queensland has not been factored in which would significantly effect the overall national audience figure for the rugby league grand final. Would be interested to know what the overall figure with regionals was.

  7. Terrible Ten figures, I know it was up against the game, but 7 fared relatively ok, but 10 fell in a complete and utter heap
