Seven stars are in Perth this weekend for WA’s 48th Telethon supporting Princess Margaret Hospital For Children and the Telethon Kids Institute.

Seven’s marathon Live telecast will feature on Channel Seven in Perth and throughout Western Australia on GWN7.

As WA’s longest serving television station, Channel Seven Perth is proud of its high standing in the local community. A major part of this recognition is due to Telethon, which over the last 47 years has established itself as the single biggest annual fundraising event in Western Australia.

Since first airing in 1968, Telethon has raised more than $179 million for WA’s children. It is regarded as the most successful fundraising event, per capita, in the world.

At the heart of every Telethon are our two major beneficiaries – Princess Margaret Hospital For Children (PMH) and the Telethon Kids Institute.

A number of other charitable organisations also receive funding from Telethon. The grants are utilised for the purchase of new medical equipment, aids and devices, undertaking medical research into Children’s diseases, establishing new facilities and the provision of counselling services for children and young people.

Your help this weekend will help us, help them. The live broadcast will be conducted on the main stage of the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre’s theatre, which will enable up to 2,000 people to view the broadcast at any one time.

On the Telethon weekend approximately 2,000 people are involved in one way or another, most donating their time and foregoing sleep.

To keep momentum going, over 50 Seven Network artists and performers fly in from all over Australia to take part in this marathon telecast. Combined with local artists and our own station personalities, everyone joins together to help raise much needed donations.
