It's a long way from Adelaide but Jessica Braithwaite, currently volunteering in Africa, will be a 2016 Nine News weather presenter.

Former SKY News weather presenter Jessica Braithwaite will be joining Nine News Adelaide from January, replacing outgoing presenter Virginia Langeberg.

“Jessica comes with impressive experience and will be an important addition to the team,” Tony Agars, Director of Nine News Adelaide, said.

“She will replace some big shoes with the departure of Virginia Langeberg but her knowledge of weather, South Australia and her established reputation as a journalist will quickly win respect with our viewers.”

Mount Gambier-born Braithwaite holds a Certificate in Meteorology, has a double degree in journalism and international studies, is also a camera operator, broadcast editor and technical producer. She is currently volunteering in an orphanage in South Africa, learning to run the local AIDS clinic and teach music.

“I’ve been holding classes for the students to help with their school work, which has taught me a lot about joy and gratitude, and it is fair to say that I will return to Adelaide with a world view I believe will greatly benefit the newsroom,” she said.

  1. She used to be at TEN Adelaide before the restructuring about three or four years ago, the innitial restructuring. There have been a fair few former Network TEN reporters and newsreaders ending up on Nine and some on Seven buts its been mostly the youngsters ending up on Nine and the more senior reporters on Seven.
