The Block finale attempting the near-impossible

It will be a very big ask to keep the auction results secret this season...

Nine will attempt the near-impossible next week with a four day gap in between The Block auctions and the result being broadcast on air.

The auctions at the South Yarra property take place on Saturday November 21st.

But the broadcast won’t screen until Wednesday November 25th.

That could make it very tough to keep the results secret.

In the past the Nine show has frantically edited overnight to get its auction finale to air within 24 hours. Even then there have been leaks, via both media and social media. Property websites have been known to publish results in the past.

Interest in the series has been strong of late, and the previous season broke records for the prices bid -and that was without 360 degree views.

The Block auction airs 7:30pm November 25 on Nine to be followed by a Wednesday edition of The Verdict at 8:50pm.

  1. The Blocks been really good this year. we have really enjoyed watching it. the contestants have worked so hard – except for Susie – which is a shame for Bonnie. If Bonnie had of had a really supportive partner, then she would have gone a lot better. The couples have worked so hard and supported each other. Go Kingo & Caro – Shay & Dean………..you guys are awesome!!!!!

  2. I predict The Verdict will have it’s best overnight ratings figures thanks to The Block running half an hour overtime. Last desperate attempt by Nine to get some eyeballs on the show.

  3. Good move Nine. If anyone gets ‘tired and emotional’ at the auctions on Saturday then it’ll have a chance to spread all over the news – and give them an opportunity to rest and calm down – before their exclusive ACA ‘interview’ (where no doubt things will be ‘revealed’) on Monday and follow-up story on Wednesday.

That should prime the ratings pump nicely – you’d be un-Australian to miss it!
