Returning: Carols by Candlelight

Lisa Wilkinson and David Campbell will host Carols by Candlelight together for the third year in a row at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne.

Carols by Candlelight is my favourite night of the year and I know it is for so many of our viewers as well. I’m thrilled that David Campbell is joining us again as co-host. This will be my eighth carols, and I think this year’s lineup is our best ever,” Wilkinson said.

“I’ll be back for my third year co-hosting with the wonderful Lisa Wilkinson. Christmas is my favourite time of the year and it’s made even more special this year celebrating with my twins for their very first Christmas,” Campbell said.

Performers include Delta Goodrem, Anthony Callea, Tim Campbell, Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino, David Hobson, Denis Walter and for the first time Ellie Drennan, Taylor Henderson, Sam Moran and Karen Jacobsen -also known as the voice of Siri!

Aussie superstar Delta Goodrem will be calling Melbourne home this Christmas, appearing in Cats the Musical and returning to the Carols stage to headline an impressive lineup of performers.

“I’m so looking forward to performing again at Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight for a beautiful night filled with friends, families and loved ones celebrating the Christmas spirit,” Delta said.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Nine’s broadcast of the magical Christmas Eve tradition, where Australia’s top entertainers perform a mix of contemporary and traditional carols in a spectacle that promises to be as captivating as ever.

Artists making their Carols by Candlelight debut include The Voice 2015 winner Ellie Drennan, chart-topper Taylor Henderson, Sam Moran, Karen Jacobsen, also known as The GPS Girl, is the voice of GPS and Siri to millions around the world, plus many more performers to be announced.

Returning Carols family favourites include Anthony Callea, Tim Campbell, Marina Prior, Silvie Paladino, David Hobson and Denis Walter.

Vision Australia assists children and families throughout Australia who are blind or have low vision.

By donating, viewers can help them achieve the greatest levels of independence, participation and development and show children that their future is bright.

8pm Thursday, December 24 on Nine.

  1. great show as always, older performers show up youngsters as always, Can we not get locals to MC the show, that would be nice for a change. Sylvie Paladino underutilized this year, not given a song that allowed her to sing with the passion she has showed in previous years. Delta is a good pop singer but does not have the power to sing songs such as those sung tonight.

  2. That means that Marina Prior will have been in both Carols events – this one and the one at the Domain. She was in the latter as part of the cast of The Sound of Music, singing one of the songs from the musical, which is what Delta will not be doing. In other words, you won’t hear Delta singing “Memory” from Cats.

    1. She’s actually the former Australian female Siri – she was replaced two years ago when Apple changed several of the Siri voices. However, the press doesn’t check their facts and Ms. Jacobsen is happy to take the credit for the new Sirii voice actor’s work, apparently, judging by her latest interviews.
