Welcome to summer -a whole week under a million viewers

Is this a first? No show managed to crack the magic million all week.

Viewers are switching off as summer takes over no show managed to pull over a million viewers across the entire week (…can’t remember this ever happening!). That’s despite an increase in first-run titles this summer.

The week’s top rated show was Seven News on Sunday at 940,000 viewers.

Seven News on Wednesday did draw 1.04m at 6pm but when averaged across the week it comes in at 926,000 (weekend editions are separately tallied).

While Seven won in primary channels, its network share was pipped by Nine with their extra multichannel. Any wonder Seven is teasing a new offering on Channel 76.

Good news for TEN with the Big Bash League lifting its share -in primary channels it was very competitive.

  1. Even when we’re in there are nights where the TV doesn’t get turned on. Otherwise have mostly been watching a few programs on SBS1 or 2. Really enjoyed seeing Spirited Away again, it is a fantastic movie.

    1. I don’t think generalising helps. Fargo has been magnificent. Homeland also a solid season. Also enjoyed Empire, Survivor, The Divorce, Doctor Who etc. Also some Pay TV titles, but I will hold off mentioning those given this is a FTA article.

      1. Agreed. If more people had a look at what Ten, SBS and ABC were offering instead of pretending their remotes have been stolen we might find that all channels would lift their game.
