Update: The Muppets

Updated: That was fast. No sign of The Muppets anymore.

That was fast.

The Muppets is out of Seven’s schedule this Tuesday after just one week, to be replaced by The Big Bang Theory (honestly, these are phrases I should be writing about Nine).

However, at this stage it remains in schedule for the following week at 8pm, January 12th.

I wouldn’t be overly confident it will eventuate.

Updated: As expected, now entirely out of the schedule.

  1. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but there were still moments where I actually laughed out loud. Few shows are stellar from the get go. I’m a bit sad this one’s being treated so shabbily.

  2. Remember when non-ratings season meant you could persist with something and build an audience? Actually maybe I’m making that up. Wishful thinking.

  3. Sadly, I found it to be boring. Really boring. And lame. The last thing we need is another “mocu-comedy” (let’s get real here) with lazily written interjections as opposed to jokes in context.

I’m glad that shows like this can get made in an age of reality TV and formulaic procedurals, but they are being produced by the wrong people, and as much as I despise the muppets, I kept an open mind, and hoped that this series would change my mind. I might still tune in again out of curiosity, but it’s sad that we’re willing to settle for so little considering that there is nothing else quite like it on TV. Similarly, I persisted with Glee (as bad as it was) for nearly 4 seasons (and some of the last season) only because there was nothing else quite like it.

  4. I look forward to the year 2020 when I predict that Ten will use series 1-7 of TBBT as spakfiller, Seven will plug their schedule with random episodes from series 8-14, and Nine will show the same eps from the then current series over and over again on all six of their MPEG-4 encoded channels.

That’s less than 5 years away so obviously Nine might not have gotten around to switching all of their channels over to MPEG-4 by then.

    1. I watched it and thought it was great. Love having Muppets back on TV.

I wouldn’t have any idea it was on though if it wasn’t for this site.
