Former Prisoner star Val Lehman is the first star confirmed for TEN’s profile reality series I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!

The 73 year old told News Corp “I’m doing it because of my sense of adventure. How many people are offered the opportunity to do something like this? Why would you turn it down? And plus, they are going to pay me for it. I’m not doing anything else at the moment so why not?”

Lehman was widely tipped to go into the jungle following clues of “A female Television Icon who is a Silver Logie winner and a household name in over 20 countries.”

Shane Warne is also the hot tip to appear according to media speculation, but may not enter until the second night.

TEN Programming Chief Beverley McGarvey last week told TV Tonight, “You will certainly see all of the participants on night one….”

Also tipped to appear are Anthony Callea, Rhonda Burchmore, a Stafford brother, Akmal Saleh, ex Bachelor contestant Laurina Fleure, Brendan Fevola. Denise Drysdale may be a guest later -but none are confirmed….

The remaining 11 celebrities comprise:

A world-class controversial Comedian who has made Australia his home.
A Rugby League Superstar who captained his team to a Grand Final victory.
A Champion Sportswoman who is one of the world’s fittest females and holds a record that no male competitor has equalled.
An International DJ who has had chart-topping singles in Australia and the US.
An AFL Legend who has created headlines on and off the field.
A chart-topping Television Star who was also a 1990s household name.
A Theatrical Lady who was a teenage movie star, a triple threat and now is a real Lady.
A Hollywood Heart-throb star of television and film who came to our attention in a very different arena.
A record-breaking Pop Star who has performed for the Queen.
A Reality Television Star who has been unlucky in love.
An International Cricket Megastar who is Australian.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! begins at 6:30pm tonight on TEN with Get Me Out of Here Now! hosted by Joel Creasey and Heather Maltman at 9:30pm on ELEVEN.

  1. Maybe they could rename the show to “I was a very minor celebrity 30 years ago, get me out of here”. Or with Shane Warne: “Me gettun 3 milyon dollars for this, get me outta here”

    1. They seem to think that Actor = Celebrity (or Appeared on TV at Some Point = Celebrity), which is totally not true. The real celebrities are too busy trying to build their careers.

  2. please edit comment: Wow she looks great for 73, would have picked her for maybe 60, its gonna be touch on her because of her age though, i hope shes as tough as her character Bea!

  3. Did Ten offer to fly you over there David to cover the show? I noticed that story was by Johnathan Moran who is in South Africa as a guest of Ten as News Corp like to put it. I guess it sounds better than Ten paid us to have a journalist over there to write endless drivel about the show.

    1. It worked effectively for them last year with plenty of stories, so I can see why it would be repeated. I don’t have the same eyeballs as News Corp! That said, I also remember breaking at least 2 stories last year from Aussie shores, on the show’s contracts, and the producer being dumped, while embedded journos were writing about fear of spiders and man-crushes.

      1. That’s the trouble with journos being embedded (as also demonstrated during the Iraq War) – it allows those doing the embedding to control what information the journos have access to as well as massage their experience.
