Yahoo has shut down its online video portal Yahoo Screen, after a $42 million writedown late last year.

Yahoo Screen which streamed TV shows, movies, webisodes and other new media, is merging videos back to its themed content spaces.

The service included comedy originals, Sin City Saints and Other Space plus revived Community at great expense and fanfare.

“At Yahoo, we’re constantly reviewing and iterating on our products as we strive to create the best user experience,” said a Yahoo representative. “With that in mind, video content from Yahoo as well as our partners has been transitioned from Yahoo Screen to our Digital Magazine properties so users can discover complementary content in one place.”

Variety reports it is unclear whether any job losses are tied to the closure.

Yahoo Screen launched in September 2013.
