More long term staffers at Seven have departed the network.

Seven Brisbane boss Max Walters has resigned after 26 years with the network, including 12 as managing director.

“Seven has been a wonderful company to work for. I’m blessed, lucky and extremely proud to
have worked for Seven,” he said in a statement. “26 years is a long time and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. But, there are a few boxes I want to tick before I retire and, at my age, now is a good time to start.”

Ben Roberts-Smith is tipped to replace him after his rapid rise within the network, but no replacement has been confirmed.

His departure follows Seven Adelaide Programming Manager Meno Toutsidis’ recent exit after around 19 years with the network.

“Meno Toutsidis departed the network almost a fortnight ago following a lengthy tenure with Seven Adelaide,” a spokesperson told TV Tonight.

“Seven wishes Meno all the best with his future endeavours.”

Adelaide News Director Terry Plane was also sacked in January after 12 years.

Sources suggest to TV Tonight, Seven now has an internal “Transformation Unit” which is making changes to long term staff and cutting costs.

  1. This has not been reported any where but late last year Channel 7 got rid of their whole sales team in Toowoomba. They too were employees with lenghty employment with Ch 7. Three reps with a combined 72 years experience in advertising and 33 years with Ch 7.

  2. An internal memo from the Seven CEO was sent to all staff late last year. The “Transformation Unit” is headed by the former head of HR (amongst others) and this unit has a “slash-and-burn” policy targetting those with lengthy years of service. Some of those affected are in the public eye, many are not. Collectively, years of experience is being marched out the door.
