Well that’s a relief.
Dami Im’s Eurovision entry Sound of Silence has been cleared of a possible breach of rules, over the lyric, “trying to feel your love through face time.”
European Broadcasting Union rules prohibit “messages promoting any political cause, company, brand, products or services.”
“The lyrics of the Australian song are presented as two separate words, ‘face time’ and not FaceTime which is an Apple trademark,” said the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group.
“The Merriam-Webster dictionary refers to ‘face time’ as ‘time spent meeting with someone’… so in this case the song lyrics have been cleared.”
Thank goodness for that!
In 2012, San Marino’s entry, Facebook Uh, Oh, Oh (A Satirical Song) was renamed The Social Network Song (Oh Oh Uh Oh Oh) after organisers intervened. Several politically-themed songs have also been rejected or reworded across Eurovision history.
Dami Im is ranked third according to bookies.

Well it’s good to know Apple’s marketing works… I thought it was FaceTime too.
No problems with Dami M stealing her music video ideas from Director X?
No problems with the title of the song? Simon? Garfunkel?
Luckily she’s not being judged at Eurovision on that video because it’s awful. Too many designer clothes, jewellery and heavy makeup imo. Should have kept the look simple and focused on Dami’s natural beauty, ala Sinead Oconner’s Nothing Compares 2U film clip. Dami is a natural beauty but is buried under all the gloss and costume changes.
Agree with you on the video. Although I have to admit, I find the actual song quite catchy.
