60 Minutes presenter Tara Brown and Brisbane mother Sally Faulkner were taken to Baabda court in handcuffs in Beirut yesterday but judge Rami Abdullah adjourned matters until noon on Wednesday.

Producer Stephen Rice, cameraman Ben Williamson and sound recordist David Ballment did not appear.

Despite the urging of the judge, Faulkner’s estranged husband Ali Elamine is refusing any compromises.

“I said I will charge everyone involved,” he told reporters outside the court.

“The way they are trying to push for this is that if Sally goes out on bail, they all get out. That is how I am seeing it as an outsider. … They are pushing for Sal’s release and everyone else gets a green card. (Nine) dropped the ball by getting involved in family matters (and now) everyone is blaming the other for what happened.”

Reports suggest that under the Lebanese legal system, the matter would be dismissed if the parties reached an agreement asthere had been no serious harm caused.

But the judge has also said, “This is not a custody case, they are involved in kidnapping two kids’.

“They are all facing criminal charges.”

Further negotiations are pending between parties.

  1. David, it’s a little confusing as to whom the quotes are attributed. Obviously the judge said that he will charge everyone involved but the subsequent quotes are all from the father, Elamine, altho’ you haven’t given his name anywhere.

At least it demonstrates that you write your posts yourself and don’t just steal them like the dailyfail!

      1. Ah, ok. So it’s Elamine who says that he will charge everyone involved. Fair enough. Just need to fix up the spelling of his family name.

      2. I heard on the radio this morning the father claims its not up to him on whether charges are pressed or not and that its the responsibility of the Beirut authorities. The judge said criminal charges were being brought against the defendants not custody charges meaning the father has no bearing on that decision.
