Welcome to the land of soap… where your employ is always determined by storylines.
Neighbours actor Tim Phillipps is unhappy his character Daniel Robinson has been written out of the show.
“The decision wasn’t mine,” he told UK’s Inside Soap.
“The producers wanted Daniel and Imogen (Ariel Kaplan) to leave together. So much negative stuff had happened that the show wanted something positive to come out of it. So with Imogen going, the only real option was for Daniel to go too.”
Phillipps arrived in Ramsay Street in 2014Â as the on-screen offspring of Charlene (Kylie Minogue) and Scott (Jason Donovan).
But he will depart with Kaplan next week.
“I think the writers wanted to create a parallel with Daniel leaving Ramsay Street after getting married, just like his parents Scott and Charlene did,” he said.
“I’m really glad that Daniel is still alive, as there’s always a possibility that he could come back and fix his relationship with his Uncle Paul.”

He can always come back in about 10 years time as a new character. Anyone remember the figment of Paul Robinson’s imagination called Fox back in 2007.
LOL I was about to say it was already his second Neighbours character. Prisoner used to do the same.
Wouldn’t call 7 years “about ten years.”
This is really strange this happened. I remember all that hype about Scott and Charlene’s son joining the show, and how he later on fronted promos for that anniversary celebration or whatever with Paul Robinson as if they were the two mains of the show or something, and then now he’s left the show?
For a while there it looked like Imogen really liked Tyler Brennan, so I’m surprised they will be marrying off her and Daniel, I had the sense that their chemistry had run out. If Daniel found himself attracted to Aaron Brennan, that would have made his character a lot more interesting and a great reason to keep him on.
Yeah he was one of the more boring characters so no loss there
With all the hype about this character being the son of Scott and Charlene and they’ve written him out already?
Good actor but character was boring.
I am surprised they have written him out especially when they struggle to keep their younger stars past their initial 3 year contract.
And with Daniel being a legacy character and with his sister arriving on the street soon there would have been plenty of reasons to keep him on the street!!!
I do wonder how they will explain Scott and Charlene not attending their sons wedding!!
I think they brought in Tim’s character hoping Kylie or Jason might make a cameo. Sadly we know both of these stars will never set foot on the Neighbours set ever again. That crap that they were never asked to appear for the anniversary shows is just that – crap.
The character had nowhere to go, he was a bit of a nothing, just there to make up the numbers. I do like Tim though, so it’s a shame he was let go.
It’s a shame that they axe the actors with the strong acting abilities but keep others who are obviously jusr there for their looks.
