Filming is underway in Melbourne on season five of ABC period crime drama The Doctor Blake Mysteries.
Craig McLachlan and Nadine Garner are both returning as Doctor Lucien Blake and Jean Beazley respectively, who “now face a new future together, full of possibility… but life has a few more surprises in store for the both of them.”
Rodger Corser is out for S5 due to his commitments with Nine’s upcoming Doctor Doctor series.
According to ABC series four was the most successful to date across its combined broadcast and iview platforms.
As to whether writers are resolving that Unresolved Sexual Tension, here’s what fans can expect for Lucien and Jean in 2017:
Once again they’ll be confronted by murder and mystery at every turn. From the boxing ring to a new French bistro, from an exotic camp of travelling Romani gypsies to the local Debutante Ball… Ballarat is slowly changing.
And amongst all of this loyalties will be tested, friendships will be strained, beliefs will be challenged and lives threatened. Will Blake and Jean finally find the happiness they so richly deserve? Is Charlie ready for more responsibility at the Station? How will Rose work with two generations of the Tyneman’s? And who is the avenging nemesis from the past?
Doctor Blake is ready to solve a series of strange and shocking crimes. But he’s about to discover that each and every one of his actions has consequences. And no good deed ever goes unpunished…
Production Credits: A December Media Production in association with ABC TV and Film Victoria. Producers George Adams and Tony Wright. Executive Producer Stuart Menzies and Associate Producer Craig McLachlan. ABC Executive Producers Brett Sleigh and Alastair McKinnon.

Saw some filming at Lake Wendouree the other day, presumed it was Dr Blake
David, there is a large big outdoor location shoot at the Exhibitions buildings. Is this where they are shooting in Melbourne.
Could be for one episode. They are based in Ballarat, Port Melbourne but use other locations for crimes etc. Update: It’s The Leftovers.
