Compass continues with its Olympic-themed spiritual stories this week, with athlete Eloise Wellings and her friendship with Ugandan runner Julius Achon.

When Olympian Eloise Wellings runs for Australia in the 5000m her thoughts for Ugandan runner Julius Achon and their charity Love Mercy will be close to her heart.

In a friendship forged through shared misfortune – Eloise dogged by injury and Julius a surviving child soldier – these two have made an extraordinary difference to the lives of hundreds of Ugandan families. Love Mercy has raised funds to care for orphans, build a medical centre and is now providing micro loans to Ugandan women in their Cents for Seeds initiative.
