Nine News viewers in Perth last night got their first look at a bright new set, at Nine’s new CBD home.
Featuring a 9 metre curved screen boasting 3 million pixels, and a studio glass wall, the new look is also expected to roll out to other studios interstate.
Nine’s new home in St. George’s Terrace, which features a street plaza, ends its 51 years in Dianella -coincidentally launching just days after the network’s 60th anniversary.

“…coincidentally launching just days after the network’s 60th anniversary.” Technically, not really. More like the 60th anniversary of TCN9 Sydney. The first iteration of the Nine Network didn’t happen until 1959, when QTQ and NWS opened. STW9 Perth, the focus of this very article, didn’t even join the network until ~1987-88, as I recall.
Sorry to be pedantic 🙂
Gotta love this new Channel 9 building in the Perth city. Cool, fresh, has a better quality picture. Not just that but also unveiling its new graphics.
Chuck: That’s your opionion: Nine news is the best.
You can watch Seven with their Eagles and Freo stories.
ABC always-commercial TV news is sport/trivia obsessed pap.
Should also point out that getting in and out of the CBD in Perth is very difficult and time consuming these days for most of the time (suppose it would be that way for most state capitals)-in Dianella they had a large area of land for helipads etc.
It’s a massive improvement on the old set but doubt it will lift ratings in Perth. Maybe the public piazza in the city will help but time will tell.
The poor quality of their product is not affected by whatever idiotic set they use for it.
