George Calombaris A-League stoush heads to court

MasterChef judge pleads guilty to assault following an argument with sports fan.

MasterChef‘s George Calombaris has pleaded guilty to assaulting 19 year old man at the A-League grand final in Sydney in May.

The incident, following a match between Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC at Allianz Stadium, saw Calombaris arguing with fan in the stadium, filmed by SBS’s The World Game cameras.

Calombaris did not attend Downing Centre Local Court today with barrister Brendan Green entering a guilty plea on his behalf.

“I am really disappointed with what occurred last night,” he has said previously.

“I was genuinely shocked when post-match football banter turned into personal abuse about my family. I regret the way in which I reacted, I am disappointed that I let it get to me, and I sincerely apologise for offending anyone. While I am not proud of my reaction to the situation, I was offended by a spectator yelling out abusive and derogatory comments about my family.”

  1. The sports fan asked Colombaris questionable wage’s paid to staff employed by [Colombaris] restaurants.
Operating a restaurant is a hard gig. Underpaying staff is not part of that gig. Enjoy.
