  1. I was watching Stranger Things as well. Quality, well written drama with effective pacing and tension. Just the kind of thing Australian television needs. I cannot however even conceive of one of our networks commissioning a period horror series with ambitious effects and, wait for it, good pacing.

Across all the key television genres in this country – drama, reality, even news programming, pacing remains very poor indeed and fails to reflect the way people are changing in terms of what they can absorb in short spaces of time and their attention spans.

  2. It is a sign of the changing landscape that on a Sunday night, usually the big night of the week, nothing gets over a million viewers during the ratings season.
A lot of the content at the moment is very poor (in my opinion) with prime time offerings just not resonating. Both The Wall and Family Food Fight strike me as derivative and uninteresting whilst the overseas dramas that are inaccessible on free to air just seem to be getting better and better. We really are in a golden age of television but the local networks have failed to even notice.
