Claire Foy, Matt Smith & Vanessa Kirby have attended the London premiere of The Crown‘s second season at Leicester Square.
“We had a wonderful time – we’re into the ’60s, and there are some interesting story lines,” Smith told reporters. “You think you know the story, but you actually don’t know the story.
“Season two is a difficult watch on some level because it touches on some difficult scenes for the family,” he added. “We’ve got the ’60s, we’ve got Princess Margaret on a motorbike, some troubles in their marriage – which they’re trying to get through – we’ve got a young Prince Philip and we learn about his story in his youth, which is compelling.”
Also attending were Greg Wise (Lord Mountbatten), Alex Jennings (Duke of Windsor) and Billy Jenkins, (Prince Charles) … but media reports suggest some corgis stole the show.
The Crown returns to Netflix on December 8.

Absolutely can’t wait for this to return. Subscribed to Netflix last year because of it and think I’ll have to binge watch Series 1 again before the December 8th return of Series 2. This makes me so happy 🙂
Can’t wait to see series 2. It is astounding that such a brilliant show has been written by one writer, Peter Morgan. That’s 20 hours so far with a very short turnaround for such a complex and rich drama. Equally astounding and unheard of is the no expense spared Leicester Square premiere for a TV drama. It is no wonder feature film is really on the back foot these days.
I must renew my netflix subscription …… excellent show.
