T.J. Miller denies sexual assault allegations

Former Silicon Valley star accused of assault in a consensual relationship back in 2001.

US actor T.J. Miller has been accused of sexually assaulting and punching a woman whilst at university.

An anonymous woman claimed that she and the former Silicon Valley star started out in a consensual relationship while attending George Washington University in 2001, where they joined the same comedy troupe.

One night during sex, she says Miller shook her violently and punched her in the mouth with no warning, causing a fractured tooth and a bloody lip. Because she had been drinking that night, she doesn’t remember the incident in its entirety, but says the memory of the violence itself remains clear. When she confronted Miller about it the next morning, he claimed that she had fallen down while drunk.

Miller and his wife denied the accusation in a statement, saying that the accuser was lying to “wreak havoc” on them.

“We stand together in stating this is nothing more than an unfortunate resurgence of her lies designed to wreak havoc on two happily married people in the public eye,” the statement read. “We stand together and will not allow this person to take advantage of a serious movement toward gender equality by allowing her to use this moment to muddy the water with an unrelated personal agenda.”

The statement added that “we met this woman over a decade ago while studying together in college, she attempted to break us up back then by plotting for over a year before making contradictory claims and accusations. She attempted to discredit both of our voices and use us against one another by trying to portray Kate to be a continuous abuse victim of T.J. (further efforts to hurt the two of us).”

However others who attended college with Miller have come forward to corroborate the woman’s story, while more women on social media have recounted their own abusive stories about him.

Meanwhile Comedy Central has cancelled Miller’s animated series The Gorburger Show after one season, but the network claims that the decision predated the allegations, with one source noting it happened in July.

Elsewhere HBO simply said in a statement, “There were no reports of sexual misconduct during T.J. Miller’s time working at HBO.”
