ABC has signed a deal for broadcast rights for Tropfest, due to air on February 17.
Last year it screened on ELEVEN following a 5 year deal with SBS.
Impressively, Susan Sarandon will head the 2018 jury, attending the event at Parramatta Park.
“I love Australia and am extremely excited to be coming to Sydney in February for Tropfest. There is an enormous amount of film talent down under, so I’m looking forward to watching all of these amazing short films showcasing Australia’s vibrant diversity,” she said.
ABC will broadcast the event Live on ABC Comedy (despite the fact it is not a Comedy event per se). It will also be streamed via ABC iView, Facebook & YouTube.
ABC’s Director of Television, David Anderson said “Tropfest promises to be an amazing event this year, and we are incredibly excited to partner with Tropfest Australia to bring the unique talents of new and emerging Australian filmmakers to our television audiences.”
The signature item for 2018 is “Rose.”
