This week on NITV The Point investigates how sport is used as a platform to confront racism and spark a broader political conversation. Plus singer/songwriter Ian Moss.

The Point’s co-hosts, Rachael Hocking and John Paul Janke will be joined on the panel this week by former NRL player Dean Widders and author David Hill.

During his career, Dean Widders took a stand against racial slurs within Rugby League and continues to be a leader in his current role with the NRL and the Redfern All Blacks. David Hill has been a leading figure in many Australian sporting organisations and is the author of The Fair and The Foul: Inside our Sporting Nation.

Also on the show – NITV’s Ella Archibald-Binge looks at the history of protests at the Commonwealth Games, while Kris Flanders examines the politics behind the explosive 1971 Springbok tour of Australia.

And in an NITV exclusive – Kris sits down with high jump veteran Percy Hobson, who was the first Indigenous man to win a gold medal in Commonwealth Games history. The quiet achiever has never spoken to the media before about his win and the challenges that followed.

Finally, NITV presenter, Karla Grant chats with singer/songwriter Ian Moss about his early days in Central Australia and his career in the iconic Aussie rock band, Cold Chisel.
