Airdate: Bad Banks

Six part 2018 German drama Bad Banks premieres on SBS tonight.

This has already been screening at SBS On Demand, and begins with a double episode.

After being wrongly fired from Crédit International, a prestigious Investment bank in Luxembourg, Jana Liekam, a talented Young Investment banker, is offered a dream-job in Frankfurt under the supervision of Gabriel Fenger, the prominent Head of Investment Banking at Deutsche Invest.

As time goes by, Jana has not only had to give up her job, but also leave her boyfriend and his 5-year-old daughter behind. While Jana quickly manages to impress Fenger and his team with her passion and ambition, she realises only too late that Christelle Leblanc, her former boss at Crédit International, has secretly been pulling the strings and manipulating Jana to her own advantage.

Soon, Jana finds herself torn between her new obligations and Leblanc’s relentless blackmail – will she and her career survive this merciless power play?

Series One, Episode One: Fired
Young investment banker Jana Liekam is suddenly fired by Crédit International Financial Group (CI), an international bank headquartered in Luxembourg, supposedly for making a serious mistake.

Episode Two: Follow the Junk
Not without ulterior motives, Leblanc lures Jana with inside information about an imminent billion-euro deal that the industry knows nothing about yet.
