Andrew Winter reveals Bell’s palsy

There was a serious reason Selling Houses Australia star was unable to attend yesterday's Logie nomination ceremony.

Gold Logie nominee Andrew Winter from Selling Houses Australia was unable to attend yesterday’s Logie Awards nomination ceremony while he recovers from a Bell’s pallsy diagnosis.

Bell’s palsy is a weakness or paralysis of the facial muscles that usually affects just one side of the face. It is thought to be mainly caused by an infection with a virus. 3 out of 4 people recover in 3 to 9 months.

“I was shocked to see that my eye was watering for some unknown reason, I then looked in the mirror and saw that my eyelid was closed on one side – like I was winking to myself

“And of course you immediately think you’re having a stroke,” he told TV Week. “I called my wife and we went to the hospital and I was there for 24-48 hours.”

Filming on Selling Houses Australia has stopped whilst Winter recovers.

Winter is the first Foxtel personality to receive a Gold Logie nomination.

The multi-ASTRA Award winner said of his nomination: “What an absolute honour and what a real compliment for all of us at Foxtel. This nomination has only happened as I’m surrounded by such true talent, from dedicated passionate crew, production and on screen colleagues, through to the continued support by Foxtel executives. This nomination is massive for a former UK real estate agent who never wanted to work in TV.”

Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh said: “What a momentous occasion for Foxtel. I’d like to congratulate Andrew on this incredible achievement, along with all our nominees who have been recognised today.”
