US action series Lethal Weapon has won a third season from FOX but co-star Clayne Crawford (pictured left) has been fired from the series following on set misbehaviour.
Actor Seann William Scott (American Pie, Dude Where’s My Car?) will play the brother to Crawford’s Martin Riggs, now teamed up with Damon Wayans’ Roger Murtaugh.
Media reports cite two incidents surrounding Crawford, both of which drew warnings from the studio but “the actor did nothing to change his behavior, so Warners chose to fire him and would not even consider the show moving forward with Crawford attached.”
“Seann (pictured right) is a fantastic addition to this already amazing cast,” FOX Entertainment president Michael Thorn said. “Lethal Weapon is packed with action, drama and pure fun and we can’t wait to see Damon and Seann together on screen. [Showrunner] Matt Miller, his incredible team and everyone at Warner Bros. have been tremendous partners, and we’re thrilled to bring this show back for another season.”
Clayne Crawford has taken to social media following confirmation of his dismissal.
“I absolutely love, respect and care for my crew and cast, and would never intentionally jeopardize so many jobs,” he wrote. “I an incredibly sorry if my passion for doing good work has ever made anyone feel less than comfortable on our set, or feel less than celebrated for their efforts. Furthermore, I apologize to all the crew and cast for any negative attention Lethal Weapon is receiving because of these incidents.”
The series has aired in Australia on Nine.
