UK comedy Red Dwarf is getting a 13th season.
Speaking at fan convention Thames Con in Oxfordshire on Monday Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) and Danny John-Jules (Cat) confirmed the show would be back for series 13.
Referring to the sitcom’s longevity, John-Jules quipped: “[Any of show’s cast] would be like ‘no we can’t do thirteen series’; Red Dwarf guys would be like ’13? Listen, let’s start filming on Friday 13th!'”
They revealed the series would be filmed in early 2019, with a release date expected late next year.
Whilst UK channel Dave is yet to formally announce the news, in February, co-creator Doug Naylor said “We’re just trying to work out how and when.
“Everyone seems to be keen so I think that will happen.”
A live stage show has also been mooted for some time.
Red Dwarf first launched in 1988 and was revived in 2009 after 10 years off screen.
It airs in Australia on ABC Comedy.

As I’ve stated before, I was a fan from the beginning, but the last series was it for me-one mildly amusing ep out of the 6-time to go out with dignity was a couple of seasons back now, unfortunately.
I hope it is closer in quality to series 11, rather than series 12.
They haven’t made any eps since early 2016; S11 & 12 were made in two blocks close together over Christmas. It was definitely looking tired and short on ideas by the end of those 12 eps. Hopefully in the 3 years Naylor will have come up with 6 more decent ideas to wring out of the concept and it will be more like SX.
