Airdate: Endless Summer: 30 Years of Home and Away

Seven finally marks a Summer Bay milestone with a primetime special celebrating 30 years.

Home and Away will finally have a primetime 30th anniversary special later this month when Endless Summer: 30 Years of Home and Away screens on Seven.

Filmed for Sunday Night, but screening as a stand-alone special, this is hosted by Steve Pennells and includes interviews with many of the show’s galaxy of stars.

The 30th anniversary took place in January this year.

For 30 years, Home and Away has delighted audiences both at home and around the world becoming one of the most awarded dramas in television history.

Now the program’s most popular stars have come together for this milestone anniversary celebration presented by Channel Seven.

Endless Summer: 30 Years of Home and Away will feature its biggest and favourite stars reminiscing about their time on the hit drama and revealing secrets never heard before.

Melissa George, Dannii Minogue, Kate Ritchie, Steve Peacocke, Bec Hewitt, Nicolle Dickson, Alex Papps, Dieter Brummer and many more share for the first time the on and off-screen dramas, romances, feuds and laughs.

There will be a surprise reunion, some astonishing revelations and more than a few tears.

During its record breaking 30 years, the ratings juggernaut has been a platform for more than 8000 actors and extras launching the careers of many international stars including Chris Hemsworth, Isla Fisher, Ryan Kwanten, Samara Weaving, Isabel Lucas and Julian McMahon not to mention Heath Ledger, Naomi Watts, Simon Baker and Guy Pearce who also made appearances.

Home and Away is cherished by audiences around the world, sold across more than 140 countries.

  1. This is something Neighbours should have done on Ten to compliment their 30th anniversary shows.
    I assume Melissa George won’t be featured in the special.

    1. Uh, Neighbours did. They had a whole special that was filmed especially for the occasion. Kylie and Jason were interviewed as well as a bunch of current and past cast members.

  2. Meanwhile, international viewers of Australia+ (now ABC Australia) from Samoa to Syria are not at all pleased that Home & Away is no longer aired, as of 1 July. Now seems to be pretty much a relay of ABC News and current affairs shows. Budget cuts?

    1. Definitely. Australia+ replaced Australia Network in 2014 when DFAT cut all funding for it. It has no advertising, and I imagine the funding from cable companies that carry the service is very minimal. A+ (and now ABC Australia) also carry children’s programming during the day too. Nothing is preventing other tv networks in those countries for picking up the rights for H&A if they want.
