Tomorrow SBS is screening two true crime documentaries which investigate the circumstances around a tragic murder in the UK and another one closer to home in NSW.

The Murder of Sadie Hartley
This gripping 2017 Royal Television Society Best Documentary Winner tells the story of how detectives solved a truly vicious murder – from the first call to the crime scene, through to the convictions of the killers. In August 2016, Sarah Williams and Katrina Walsh were found guilty of the murder of Sadie Hartley. Cameras follow lead detective Paul Withers and his team as the case unfolds. They unravel lies told by Williams and discovered her accomplice, Katrina Walsh, who claims to have no memory of the crime. The pair hatched an 18-month- long plan to kill Sadie.

Cultivating Murder
In July 2014, Glen Turner, a compliance officer with the Office of Environment and Heritage, was shot four times by a farmer and died on the side of an isolated public road in NSW, 40kms from Moree. Cultivating Murder tells the story of what happened and follows the murder trial to discover why it happened. It is an unusual murder case. The mystery is not ‘who did it?’ but ‘why did he do it?’ The accused is a wealthy New South Wales farmer. The circumstances of the shooting are shocking and perplexing. Glen Turner’s family, friends, and colleagues want to see the full weight of the law applied. The documentary tells the story of Glen Turner’s family, government employees, whistle-blowers, and rural producers in the region where the murder took place.
