Season 2 of UK period drama Harlots begins on SBS VICELAND next week.
The ITV series which stars Samantha Morton as a brothel madam in 18th century England is inspired by “The Covent Garden Ladies” by Hallie Rubenhold.
This is an 8 part series which debuted internationally in July.
Set against the backdrop of 18th century Georgian London, Harlots follows the Wells family, led by matriarch Margaret (Samantha Morton). When her daughter Charlotte (Jessica Brown Findlay) places herself in the home of arch-rival bawd Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville), their toxic and deep-set rivalry is taken to a dangerous new level. Meanwhile, alluring and wealthy socialite Lady Fitz (Liv Tyler) is drawn by Charlotte into the plot against Lydia as well.
Margaret and Nancy are on a race against the clock to find witnesses that will testify against Lydia Quigley. This occurs as a result of an arrest made by a new justice.
The community rallies together to mourn, and share their grief. Charlotte struggles to maintain her loyalties, and the women fight back against the injustice of the judiciary.
Friday, 12 October at 9.30pm on SBS VICELAND.
