Vic Election 2018: Nine

Tony Jones & Alicia Loxley to lead Nine's coverage of State Election this Saturday.

Nine has announced its coverage plans for the Victorian State Election this Saturday, led by Tony Jones and Alicia Loxley.

Our broadcast will commence at 5.00pm, giving viewers the most up-to-date information and analysis of voting as polling booths across Victoria close.

Nine will deliver the first results of how Victorians have voted in an exclusive Galaxy election-day poll.

At 6.00pm, Peter Hitchener will present a special Nine News bulletin, with reporters stationed in crucial electorates across the state.

Following Nine News, Jones and Loxley will continue to bring viewers the most comprehensive reporting and assessment of the day’s results.

Leading Nine’s powerhouse panel are Nine News’ Chief Political Editor, Chris Uhlmann, and State Political Reporter, Andrew Lund. Walkley Award-winning Uhlmann is a leader of the Canberra press gallery, who won worldwide recognition and praise for his television analysis of the dysfunction of President Trump, while Lund is a veteran of the Victorian political scene who has been on the hustings throughout the campaign.

Joining them on the panel is top-rating broadcaster, 3AW’s Neil Mitchell. Chatting to hundreds of Victorians every month, no one knows better than Mitchell the issues that most affect everyday people.

Rounding out the panel will be Minister for Police, Labor’s Lisa Neville, and Shadow Treasurer, Liberal’s Michael O’Brien.

Brett McLeod will present updates from our Megawall, which will take the pulse of the electorate, crunch the numbers, and track viewer feedback through social media.

Using Nine’s state-of-the-art election system, we will also be able to calculate preference flows and swings, and make winning projections for every seat in Victoria.

With Melbourne’s population recently soaring past five million, population growth, infrastructure, public transport and roads are key election issues, determining how Victorians will vote.

Nine’s cameras and team of experts will span the length and breadth of the state to bring viewers extensive coverage from the seats that matter most on election day.

From 6pm Saturday, November 24, on Nine (Vic).
