Sarah Abo joins 60 Minutes

Nine poaches journalist from SBS World News and Dateline.

SBS journalist Sarah Abo is joining the 60 Minutes team.

Syrian-born Abo, who joined SBS in 2013, has filed for SBS World News, Dateline and Small Business Secrets, including the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the 2015 Paris Climate Conference and in 2016, both the US presidential election and the ongoing conflict in Afghanistan.

At home she has covered the Royal Commission into Child Sexual Abuse, the official visit to Australia of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the machinations of multiple state and federal election campaigns. She was previously with 10.

She joins  Charles Wooley, Liz Hayes, Liam Bartlett, Tara Brown and Allison Langdon.

“I’m thrilled to have such an exceptional broadcast journalist joining us, and I have no doubt Sarah’s skills will make what is already the finest reporting team on Australian television even stronger,” Kirsty Thomson, Executive Producer of 60 Minutes said.

“Like most Australians I’ve grown up watching 60 Minutes. Having the opportunity to now work on such an iconic program is, to be honest, a little bit daunting, but also incredibly exciting,” she said.

60 Minutes returns 8.30 Sunday, February 3 for its 41st season.

  1. If I was Sarah, and had aspirations of international work, the words ’60 minutes’ on your resume ,would be the most recognisable thing you could have.

  2. Oh?!?….one of my faves on SBS….60 Minutes seems to be such a limiting role…
    I wish her all the best for the future….I have enjoyed all her work up to now… ?
