I’m a Celebrity finale won’t be Live this year

Reality finale will be pre-recorded due to a longer wait between last episodes.

10 has a big chunk of Live entertainment coming our way but the I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here finale won’t be one of them.

A Network 10 spokesperson said: “The I’m A Celeb finale will be prerecorded and air as live from South Africa on Sunday 17 February at 7.30pm on 10.”

The penultimate episode is next Tuesday when an elimination will leave 3 contestants remaining. 10 will then launch Changing Rooms across Wednesday 13 & Thursday February 14. That means 4-5 days of no episodes, a long time to sit around in the jungle, and a very expensive exercise for the hefty show crew.

Hence Chris & Julia will record the finale this year and head home to prepare for Sunday Night Takeaway.

Voting rules and cut-off for the finale are yet to be announced.

Meanwhile 10 has also clarified a slip of the tongue by Julia Morris on voting strategy after she told Katherine Kelly Lang that votes “accumulate” leading to some concerns about fairness.

“Julia Morris was comforting eliminated celebrity Katherine Kelly Lang and meant that the celebrities popularity accumulates over time, not the votes,” the spokesperson said.

“Votes are reset after every elimination.”

Last night former AFL champ Dermott Brereton was eliminated.

  1. It seems like a less than ideal decision and a little cheap really. Having the final on a different night would solve the problems with having cast and crew hanging around for an extended period.

  2. Disappointing for fans of the show. It will be the worst kept secret in showbiz history as it will definitely leak out who the winner is 5 days after it’s recorded. The finale should be live on the Wednesday night instead. Come on TEN. Not too late to fix this.

  3. Wow.. what a screw up. Why did they even bother to do this series if there is going to be things like this and the shortened series. I feel sad for those who signed up to do the show, because if it was any other series and the celebs still got eliminated in the same order, I doubt we’d have seen Katherine so upset the other day as she would have at least got another week out of it, and the same for Dermott too instead of leaving the next night he would have left the next week.

Then this situation making another first time where days will pass before the final is aired and yet the camp members have also supposedly left and voting has to be over days before as well? C’mon 10, don’t do this. Please fix this up.

      1. Yeah, I don’t really know I just feel like she felt her time in there was too short, and wanted to experience more and she would have if they hadn’t done a shorter series. Going in from the start may have helped as well.

      1. No I meant Ant and Dec might show up and say “Hey you have a show to do which is based on our show. You have to start preparing it now! Roll the credits!!!”
