Returning: Marngrook Footy Show

NITV's AFL panel show returns to screens later in March.

NITV’s AFL panel show Marngrook Footy Show returns to screens later in March -and the original gang is back together.

Brisbane Bears and St Kilda Football club legend, Gilbert ‘Gilly’ McAdam returns to the panel after his gap year to co-host the show alongside Grant Hansen, Shelley Ware and Leila Gurruwiwi.

Former Geelong Football Club star, Ronnie Burns, will also join the line-up.

Executive Producer and co-host of the show Grant Hansen said: “I can’t wait for the Marngrook Footy Show to be back on air, and most importantly, having Gilly on the panel again this year talking footy. The old magic will be back with the original team reunited in 2019.”

Looking ahead to the new season, NITV’s Business Development and Partnerships Manager, Mark Ella said: “I’m really looking forward to a new season of Marngrook this year. In-depth analysis and larrikin humour between Gilly and Ronny will be the hallmark of the show when it returns with a vengeance in 2019, with the ever reliable Grant at the helm, moderating passionate AFL discussions.

“This season, Marngrook will continue to review and preview the AFL and AFLW, as well as celebrate the game at all levels, with its point of difference being the community stories it shares.”

Co-host Gilbert McAdam said: “It’s great to be back this year with Grant and the team. I’m feeling refreshed after my year away and I’m ready to kick off 2019’s footy season on NITV.”

The 2019 series will kick off on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm; however will alternate to Thursdays at 7.30pm when there is no AFL fixture.

Showcasing NITV’s and Marngrook’s ongoing commitment to Australian women’s footy and Indigenous women’s representation in sports media, this season will include a strong, rotating contingent of AFLW players and prominent Indigenous women in the game. Panel guests will include Natarsha Bamblett and Kirby Bentley.

In 2019, the program will feature some of the most knowledgeable Indigenous experts at the desk, including Andrew Krakouer, Stephen May, Matthew Stokes, Jason Johannisen and Greg McAdam. Regulars will include legends of the game Kevin Bartlett and Doug Hawkins.

NITV will also run Facebook Live sessions and more digital content throughout the year – embracing new audiences on different platforms.

Wednesday 20 March at 7.30pm on NITV.

  1. Marngrook Footy Show is one of the highest rating and successful shows on NITV. It is a far more professional and respectable football show presentation compared to the former AFL Footy Show on Nine Network that was plagued with controversy.
