In a history making win, Seven News Adelaide has claimed its 500th successive week in survey.
The winning streak, which started in August 2006, makes it the longest running win for an Adelaide bulletin.
The previous record was 92 consecutive weeks, also achieved by Seven News, between 2001 and 2003.
Last week Seven News averaged 116,000 to ABC News (68,000) Nine News (64,000) and 10 News First (40,000).
“500 weeks is an outstanding milestone, but it’s one only achieved thanks to the phenomenal team at 7NEWS,” said Jane Doyle.
“It’s a privilege to work with our reporters, producers, cameramen and editors to bring the news into South Australian homes night after night.
“We have a strong blend of youth and experience which enables us to embrace the ever-increasing pace of news gathering. For someone whose journalistic career began in the days of typewriters, telex machines and film, it’s remarkable to now be able to harness digital and mobile technologies to bring viewers news instantly from anywhere in the world.”
John Riddell added, “I’ve been with Channel Seven and 7NEWS for 30 years this December and there’s been a couple of obvious constants; one being our fantastic, loyal viewers who have stuck with us and put their trust in 7NEWS. The other is the professionalism of the team behind Jane, Soda, Abba, Amelia, Rosanna, Jess and me.
“Having been a news reporter, it gives me enormous pleasure to witness first-hand, every day the efforts our crews go to in ensuring we remain the market leader.
“Thank you for helping us hit this remarkable 500-week milestone.”
Adelaide News Director, Chris Salter, said, “Jane and John are legends of the industry – respected, credible, trusted. We’re honoured to produce a news service that South Australians have relied on for so long.
“A new generation of viewers are now tuning in, making 7NEWS the only television news service to increase its audience in 2019.”
