Still Laugh-In special is a TV treat

There are so many "wow" moments in this nostalgic special.... Look that up in your Funk & Wagnalls!

TV nostalgia fans will not want to miss Still Laugh-In: The Stars Celebrate from beautiful downtown Burbank on Netflix.

This is a star-studded tribute to an iconic TV show which includes appearances from Lily Tomlin, Ruth Buzzi and Jo Ann Worley (sadly no Goldie Hawn!). In the audience are creator George Schlatter plus Norman Lear.

I haven’t had a chance to finish watching it but there are so many “wow” moments in this as it edits original clips in with modern recreations by current comedy stars.

The flashbacks to ’60s & ’70s faces is quite incredible… from Richard Nixon to Sammy Davis Jr, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Tiny Tim, John Wayne, Flip Wilson, Phyllis Diller, Johnny Carson, Cher and everybody in between. The catchphrases come thick and fast: “Sock it to me!”, Here come da Judge”, “Verrry Interesting”, “You bet your sweet bippy!” and “Have I reached the party to whom I am speaking?”

They don’t make TV like this anymore.

Look that up in your Funk and Wagnalls!

Hollywood’s finest pay tribute to Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In for an uncensored and unforgettable celebration at The Dolby Theater. The special is filled with an elite lineup of talent paying homage to the iconic show and its Director/Producer George Schlatter, with modern takes on timeless moments, including Lily Tomlin’s revival of her seminal Edith Ann and Ernestine characters.  In addition to comedy legend and Laugh-In original cast member, Lily Tomlin, the celebrated lineup of stars include: Ruth Buzzi,  Billy Crystal, Snoop Dogg, Tiffany Haddish, Chelsea Handler, Neil Patrick Harris, Taye Diggs, Michael Douglas, Jay Leno, Rita Moreno, Rita Wilson, JoAnne Worley, Maria Bamford, Margaret Cho, Ron Funches, Nikki Glaser, Lisa Ann Walter, Mary McCormack, Bobby Moynihan, Cheri Oteri, Rob Riggle, Jeff Ross, J.B. Smoove, Tony Hale, Jon Lovitz,  Natasha Leggero, Kenya Barris, Michael Rapaport, Jameela Jamil and more.

Tuesday May 14 on Netflix.

  1. Do you think Netflix could buy the rights to the original Laugh In shows? I would definitely watch them. This special just makes me pine for the real thing.
