Blackadder cast reunion does not a revival make…

Tony Robinson quashes UK reports cast is regrouping on comedy classic.

UK press got a tad excited about former Blackadder cast members spotted together recently.

The Sun reported the team ‘were all having a great laugh’ when Tony Robinson, 72, Rowan Atkinson, 64, Stephen Fry, 61, and Hugh Laurie, 60, met in London members’ club Soho House.

An unnamed source said: “They were all having a great laugh and they are all old friends. So they just said, ‘Yes, let’s do it’. It is being written now. Rowan has been saying he is extremely excited.”

Wow amazing…

But Tony Robinson soon poured cold water on the idea.

A spokeswoman for Robinson also told Yahoo UK: “It sounds lovely but I’m afraid neither we nor Tony know anything about this.”

  1. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve watched all seasons (2 and 3 especially) and I still laugh like Mrs. Miggins on gin every time.

  2. Tony Robinson seems to have put aside comedic roles he has another less stressful career making serious doco style shows especially after the success of Time Team. Comedy, especially on British TV does rely on a fortuitous alignment of talent which in the case of Blackadder showcased most of Britain’s up and coming male comedy talent during the 80’s and 90’s rejuvenating the university review style of comedy sketch routines made popular by Monty Python, brilliantly written by Ben Elton who is not mentioned here.
