Returning: Knightfall

Mark Hamill joins the cast of period drama returning soon to SBS.

US / Czech period drama Knightfall returns for its second season on SBS at the end of the month.

Mark Hamill joins the cast as new character Talus, a battle-hardened Knight Templar veteran and initiate master who is tasked with preparing the next generation of men to proudly wear the iconic red cross on their chests to become ‘God’s Executioners’.

This is an 8 part series which screened in the US in March.

It will launch with a double episode.

Knightfall goes inside the medieval politics and warfare of the Knights Templar, the most powerful, wealthy and mysterious military order of the Middle Ages. The series goes deep into the clandestine world of this legendary brotherhood of warrior monks to learn who these knights were, how they lived, and what they died believing. With the historical and ruthless downfall of the Templar Order on the horizon, this second season focuses on themes such as power, redemption, revenge, betrayal, family, and ultimately an epic war between church and state.

Season Two, Episode One: God’s Executioners
Banished from the Knights Templar after the discovery of his affair with the now-deceased Queen Joan, Landry must work to redeem himself in the eyes of his Templar brothers. Meanwhile, King Philip, with the help of his royal advisor, William DeNogaret, formulates a plan to take action against the Templars, while dealing with the return of his erratic, eldest son, Prince Louis.

Episode Two: The Devil Inside
Now back in the Order as an Initiate, Landry continues his training with his fellow Initiates under the harsh guidance of Talus, the battle-hardened Initiate master. DeNogaret implores King Philip to build a legal case against the Knights, and seeks the aid of a former Templar to help carry out this plan. Princess Isabella discovers the future her father has in mind for her, and Prince Louis is tasked with a shocking secret mission.
