Sorry, I smell a rat here.
On Hiatus, No figures
How is it that AFL with multiple games played simultaneously on different platforms within CH7
appear as one total figure on CH7 ? whereas the Ashes , is split between 9 & Gem.
Very strange
Weekend numbers are always updated later on Monday. Your rat will be ready then.
In this case they are not though as the Ashes has figures for Sydney and Brisbane when it was on GEMHD not Nine (there are no secondary channel figures), so it is the same as the AFL figures including the secondary ones. Happens most weekends with the NRL as well until the figures are updated on Monday they appear on the main channel list, then are separated which is a channel Nine decision, Seven don’t though and keep them together.
David has questioned Nine about this and has basically got no response.
While the shares are to be announced and the secondary channels aren’t there so The Ashes is a bit all over the place given there was an NRL Game on Nine in Sydney and Brisbane with the Ashes on GEMHD I have to say. This looks based on yesterdays figures that it will illustrate how much Nine need that Thurs, Fri, Sat block to fire to take out weekly ratings against Seven, may give them some impetus to solve that programming downfall each week (if they win again Fri and Sat, plus take out the week).
They’ll need to bid for the AFL (or perhaps a weekly game) to solve the problem from 2023.
I said a few weeks back that this whole ratings year would/could likely fall on the result of one (for want of a better term) program; The Ashes.
As you’re suggesting, it looks like it’s going to be enough for 9 to win the next 3 or 4 weeks and that might just be what swings the balance of power.
It’s kind of ironic since they lose the cricket rights shortly.
Yeah Nine have the 2020 T20 World Cup and the 2023 One Day World Cup and then that’s about it, though both the Australian Cricket and Tennis rights are up for grabs in 2024, not sure with the ICC ones.
