Neighbours star Scott McGregor testified in court yesterday in a case surrounding a stripper who allegedly glassed him in a club at Surfers Paradise in April.
McGregor, who plays Detective Mark Brennan on the 10 Peach soap, had attended a charity event on the Gold Coast on April 5 before attending Hollywood Showgirls with friends.
CCTV footage played in the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday showed he engaged in a brief conversation with stripper Danielle “Ivy” Lee, which ended with her walking away. Seconds later, a glass then struck McGregor in the mouth. The footage does not show Lee throwing the glass.
She pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm with an offensive instrument.
When asked by Lee’s barrister, Scott Funch, how much he had drunk that night, McGregor replied: “I can’t recall.”
“If you’re insinuating I was drunk or inebriated I would say you are wrong,” McGregor said.
He denied using the foul language suggested by Lee’s barrister.
“I’m not the sort of person to throw those sort of words around,” he said.
McGregor has flagged his departure from the 10 Peach soap in coming months.
The trial resumes on October 8.
