Actor Ben Unwin, best known for Home and Away, has died.

Actor Ben Unwin, best known for Home and Away, has died aged 41.

His body was found by police on August 14, a day before his 42nd birthday, according to reports.

“Police attended Minyon Falls, Whian Whian, responding to a concern for welfare,” NSW Police said in a statement.

“The body of a 41-year-old man was located. The death has not been treated as suspicious.”

Unwin played bad boy Jesse McGregor on Home & Away for a decade, from 1996–2000 and again from 2002–2005. One month after completion of his High School Certificate he had the role written for him, after auditioning for another part.

He was nominated for Most Popular New Talent at the 1997 Logie Awards and appeared in Eggshells and GP.

He started his career at the age of 12, playing a lead in the musical “Seven Little Australians” at the Footbridge Theatre.

Unwin later completed a law degree and in recent years worked as a senior solicitor in Newcastle as well as residing in LA.

A spokesman for the Seven network said: “Cast and crew from Home and Away are saddened to learn of the passing of former castmate, Ben Unwin.

“Ben’s work in the role of Jesse McGregor is remembered with much affection.

“Ben’s family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers.”

  1. Sad to hear about this actors passing, but IMDB has clearly made a mistake with these directing credits.

    benunwin.co.uk/ – this is the actual music video director and a completley different person based in London.

  2. Gone way too young, rip. Often actors get into a depression when the work drys up but in this case it seems he was able to move on, one wonders what went so wrong for him.
