Airdate: Great News

An up-and-coming TV news producer finds herself dealing with a new intern: her mother.

US comedy Great News is coming to ABC Comedy.

Created and written by Tracey Wigfield this follows an up-and-coming TV news producer who finds herself dealing with a new intern: her mother.

It stars Briga Heelan, Andrea Martin, Adam Campbell, Nicole Richie, Horatio Sanz and John Michael Higgins and comes with multiple guests.

This was co-produced by Tina Fey and ran for two seasons in 2017.

Every workplace is a family. But for Katie, a producer at cable news network MMN, it goes one step further when her mom, Carol, is hired as an intern. That’s just scratching the surface of this slightly offbeat team, which includes old-school newsman Chuck and hip millennial Portia, the two co- anchors who only get along when the cameras are rolling. Then there’s Greg, the young, ambitious but uptight executive producer, and Justin, the laid-back video editor and voice of reason for this oddball crew. Together, they may be a little dysfunctional, but that won’t stop them from doing what they do best: breaking the news.

Episode 1: Pilot
Katie (Briga Heelan), a frustrated cable news producer, is horrified when her mom, Carol (Andrea Martin), gets an internship at “The Breakdown.” Despite Katie’s best efforts, Carol is instantly beloved by the entire office, including blowhard veteran anchor Chuck (John Michael Higgins). But when Katie hits a roadblock while producing a big story, she realizes that maybe having a mom at work isn’t such a bad thing. Nicole Richie, Adam Campbell and Horatio Sanz also star.

  1. I watched season one last year when I was traveling through Europe, something to watch on my tablet while on the trains and planes via Netflix. Season 1 was quite enjoyable, but season two (also the final season) was quite a let down.
