Grand Final Footy Show: Sept 25

Nine celebrates 25 years of The Footy Show at Rod Laver Arena.

Nine has now confirmed the full line-up of The Grand Final Footy Show:

The Grand Final Footy Show Spectacular is ready to blow the roof off Rod Laver Arena as we celebrate 25 years of The Footy Show at the special time of 8.40pm this Wednesday on Nine and 9Now.

Eddie McGuire, Sam Newman and Rebecca Maddern will lead a huge night of entertainment, laughs and everything you need to know ahead of the 2019 AFL Grand Final.

Original Footy Show member, the hilarious Trevor Marmalade, will reunite with Sam and Eddie as he delivers his classic gags and humour to a huge lineup of guests.

Footy Show favourites Brendan Fevola, Billy Brownless, Shane Crawford and Doug Hawkins will head up a huge panel as they take a look back at an unpredictable finals series and give their predictions for the big dance on Saturday at the MCG.

Following the announcement of his retirement, Collingwood and Carlton veteran Dale Thomas will join the panel to talk about his last season – and whether we might yet see him playing on in 2020.

Essendon player and cult footy hero Anthony McDonald-Tipungwuti is in to review Essendon’s fantastic year as he makes his Grand Final Footy Show debut.

Richmond’s 2017 premiership coach, Damien Hardwick, will head to Rod Laver Arena to talk up the Tigers’ chances, and GWS coach Leon Cameron will also speak to the panel as the Giants prepare for the first Grand Final in their short history.

Rock group Birds of Tokyo will shake the arena with a hit from their new album and Australian Crawl front man James Reyne will reel off a medley of great hits. And to celebrate 40 years of the classic AFL sing-along, Mike Brady will perform a rousing rendition of everybody’s favourite footy song, Up There Cazaly, a song that has become synonymous with the Grand Final.

Plus, the Scared Weird Little Guys will wrap up the 2019 footy year in a comical parody routine.

It wouldn’t be The Grand Final Footy Show without the show-stopping Player Revue, and this time current players and Footy Show personalities will hook up for a dance segment that will thrill from start to finish.

Billy Brownless will give one local football club the chance to win $20,000 in Billy’s Biggest Ever Wheel, thanks to The District Docklands and Urban Alley Brewery, live from the Melbourne Star. Those all-time favourite segments Sam’s Mailbag and Street Talk are returning too, and we find out the winner of the Almost Footy Legends’ Countdown.

8.40pm this Wednesday on Nine Melb / Ade / Per.

  1. This is great Nine is doing this. I know it hasn’t been great for the past few years, but to celebrate 25 years – thats beyond amazing. I really hope it gets the ratings for a perfect sign off

  2. David, are there whispers or murmurings at all around town that if this is successful, that we will see a return for this show next year on a weekly basis? Or is this being considered the final send off?
That blurb doesn’t really elaborate to celebrating its 25 year history… hmmm…
