Mastermind will have its one hour season final next week at the special time of 7:30pm Friday.
Since April the show has been testing its experts in their field of knowledge as it looks for its champion, who will win a glass bowl trophy.
From Monday to Thursday, the weekly finalists from each of the previous 16 weeks are returning to battle it out.
The ultimate four winners from Monday to Tuesday will compete in the grand final next Friday.
The episode will include all new specialist subjects, a general knowledge round and a brand world-first new “slow burn” round. In the slow burn round, ten points are up for grabs but the contenders have only one chance to answer, if they answer incorrectly the get zero points from the round.
6pm Monday 23 – Thurs. 26
Grand Final 7.30pm, Friday 27th September on SBS.

Absolutely detest this completely unfair so called slow burn. Is it just an Australian thing to make the lead contender look stupid?
They’ve all answered proper questions and then all of a sudden they’re asked one question which they may not have a clue about. That one question is considered to be 10 points if they guess correctly.
What a load of piffle as the one who answered the least amount of questions could then be the winner as he knew all about “Actor in the 20s who wasn’t Australian” or some other unfair question.
I do notice that the latest series has got rid of the choice between four subjects (which had to be the best example of unfairness as the loser got to choose and the leader didn’t…. what moron thought of that idea?). Get rid of the ruddy slow burn as my blood pressure can’t handle it and I’m sure that I cannot possibly be the only one to see the complete unfairness of this stupid idea.

I’ve been quite enjoying this. Jennifer spruiks at the end of almost every episode for contestants to sign-up, so I’m hopeful from that there will be another season.
