Sunrise entertainment reporter Edwina Bartholomew has apologised to Seb Costello from Nine News after remarks she made on Twitter.
Last month she apologised via the Herald Sun, claiming she was “half asleep and on the other side of the world.”
“My apologies to Seb and all involved. No offence was intended and hopefully none was taken,” she said.
“It was clearly a mistake and the errant tweet has been deleted.”
But Nine was considering legal action, amid talk the apology was inadequate.
Yesterday she posted online:
On 14/9 I made a statement on Twitter about @sebcostello9. While I won’t repeat it, what I said about him was false, hurtful and completely inappropriate . I unreservedly apologise to Seb and his family for the hurt and offence my words caused.

Bartholomew also recently took a flight in which, it was reported, she sat next to Peter Costello. What are the odds….?

The faux public apologies are a hoot. Firstly, I remember this tweet happening yet have no idea what was said. So I have no idea what she’s apologising for. Oh well.
The lawyer has been in her ear.
I can’t help but feel sorry for Eddie. Social media has a very bad habit of drawing you in and making you type things you would never say in the ‘real’ world. I have done it myself a few times unfortunately and haven’t really meant what I have said the way it looks. Always amuses me though that so many of the replies to comments are ten times worse than the original and that seems to be acceptable?

Twitter made me do it? Why tweet when you’re half-asleep?
If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it – especially online. Regret can be costly and irreversible. At least she hasn’t lost her job over it yet, unlike several TV people in the US.
Perhaps a digital detox is in order?
