Hamish Blake has quashed suggestions that Andy Lee might be headed to the Today show, following a report his sidekick had been sounded out for a role.
“Someone told me yesterday we were both thrown around as hosts. Far out. I’m answering here an article I have no idea about,” he told TV Tonight.
The Lego Masters host said he hadn’t heard any news of Lee joining Today “… only in the context of our friends laughing about a newspaper report. I guess people who run newspapers have to write something. You can’ put out a blank story, so you have to write something.
“Having known Ando for 20 years I’m pretty familiar with our policy on early mornings. I’d be surprised if that changed.”
Meanwhile Nine sources have also denied a weekend report that Sonia Kruger may be replaced on Today Extra.
In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, a Nine spokesperson said all of the talk was “made up.”
“The sustained attack by The Sunday Telegraph on the female presenters of Nine is aimed to damage the standing of some of Australia’s most talented women in the media,” they said.
“Working mums Georgie Gardner, Erin Molan, Sonia Kruger and Deborah Knight are just some of the Nine women who are performing great roles across the various parts of the business, yet have been targeted by The Sunday Telegraph in a shameful onslaught of stories.”
Elsewhere Seven has also denied reports Gretel Killeen has been signed for the Big Brother revival.
A Seven spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au there has been no conversations around a host.
“It is not just contestant applications with which we have been inundated… everyone is putting their hand up and wants to be involved,” they added.
Hamish & Andy’s “Perfect” Holiday starts soon on Nine.

I really believe they should switch their weekend team to weekdays. They all work so well (and I’m not normally a DC fan) together and the banter doesn’t look forced….. unlike weekday team. Tho Jane is having a baby so can’t have the whole team initially (depends on her plans of course).
When I read or hear a rumour, I check TVTonight to check if it’s true or not. If it isn’t confirmed here, I write it off.
When it comes to newspaper’s the often a spark or two where the smoke is. i don’t think Andy would be a good fit on the Today show, but dumping Sonia from Today Extra… I mean I can’t imagine 9 dumping the host of it’s flagship morning program… oh wait… Jess Rowe, Kerri-Anne Kennerley (dumped from her own show) and don’t forgot Karl, Pete, Sylvia and Tim who all got the boot from Today last year.
Seriously….I do not understand why anyone reads the Daily Mail for anything but a laugh…certainly not news.
Most of their reports should be filed under ‘Fiction’
Could sacrificing Sonia and moving Georgie or Deborah to Today Extra help them solve their problems on Today, especially if the former is out of contract and the latter two are not.
