Imelda Staunton is being rumoured to succeed Olivia Colman for Seasons 5 & 6 of The Crown.
Colman is currently filming Season 4 as Queen Elizabeth II, having taken over from Claire Foy.
Staunton’s many credits include Harry Potter, Paddington, Maleficent, Vera Drake, Cranford, Psychoville, A Confession and the Downton Abbey feature.
“We are currently filming season 4 of The Crown but have not commissioned any further seasons as yet, therefore any news on casting remains pure speculation,” a Netflix spokesperson said.
While we’re playing casting…. can Donald Sutherland do a UK accent? Prince Phillip anyone?

Finding it really hard to warm to the “new queen” thought Clair Foy was great. You would have thought she’d been told it could be a long term gig.
Jim Carter for Phil the Greek perhaps?
I would choose the great American actor James Cromwell; he has a physical likeness to Philip and would have no problem with the accent.
Also good idea.
This is actually a great idea. Haven’t seen a lot of him in recent years (the last TV show I remember seeing him in was The West Wing). Really looking forward to his turn in the Maralinga series (name escapes me rn) our illustrious leader has mentioned a couple of times.
Fallout.
James Cromwell previously portrayed Philip in The Queen (2006) alongside Helen Mirren’s Elizabeth II.
I love Imelda Staunton. Tremendously talented lady.
