Renewed: Ackley Bridge

UK drama Ackley Bridge was recently renewed for a fourth series.

But it will return with a new set of characters and a tweak to its format.

Instead of airing hour-long episodes, the series will now consist of 10 episodes, each 30 minutes long.

The series has been praised for handling tricky and important themes – from teenage pregnancy and failing schools to cultural integration.

The fourth series is not scheduled for broadcast in the UK until September 2020.

It airs in Australian on BBC First.
