Karl “got a little full of himself”

And it was all going so well too…

Until now the breakfast wars have avoided foot-in-mouth moments that have avoided media headlines, but yesterday comments in jest by Karl Stefanovic drew a response from former Today Hollywood correspondent Richard Reid that attracted coverage.

While speaking to the Kyle & Jackie O Show, Stefanovic was asked about comments made by Richard Reid during his time a year ago on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

“When Richard mentioned [the hair plugs] on I’m a Celebrity, what were your thoughts on that, Karl?'” Jackie ‘O’ asked.

“Richard and I have had a beautiful relationship over many years and, well, I’ll just say this, I never really saw him in person because he was always too busy flapping about,” Stefanovic replied.

“And so when he said it, I had to turn off that show and I just thought, ‘You are just a tosser.’ Richard Reid is a tosser of the highest order!”

Reid, who is now a regular on Studio 10, was quizzed over an apparent rift in a “set-up” follow-up call.

“I like Karl just fine, in small doses. I don’t have a problem with Karl … not much,” Reid laughed.

But when pressed why his relationship with Stefanovic soured, Reid said, “Karl got a little full of himself. He started talking about himself in the third person….. I just like everyone to be down to earth and accessible. He’ll admit himself, he just got a little full of himself and I didn’t really care for that.

“I kind of turned off like the rest of Australia.”

Okaaaaay….
